"Shaving" instead of waxing :(
I read the good reviews on citysearch and decided to book an appointment for waxing at this salon. The place is very cute, with nice furniture, and Julie who treated me is a very kind person. She waxed my legs and arms in a quite dark room, so she could not see if she missed any hair (which she did). But that did not matter that much, compared to the fact that, a couple of days later, I realized that the hair were not removed from their root, instead, most of them were cut and are growing back as if I shaved them. It looks really bad, especially on my arms that are now full of small black spots and not at all smooth. :( I've been waxing my legs and arms for many years now and I know how it feels when hair are removed from the root. It usually takes 3 weeks or more to reappear, and then the hair are softer, and scattered.
So, even though I liked the place, I'm never going back there.

Cons: Not the quality of service I expected. I need to revisit another salon and try to fix my arms that look horrible now.

Wonderful waxing and skin care!
Julie at Serene Skin and Body is the only one I trust to keep my brows and skin looking great. She is very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Her facials are super relaxing and cleansing. I buy the Jan Marini products that they carry. I especially love the moisturizer with sunscreen and the C-Esta. Julie got me to become a daily sunscreen wearer. My skin thanks her!
Nanette is also wonderful. She is very helpful and always has great tips. All of my experiences at Serene Skin and Body have been really positive. I highly recommend them and their products. Enjoy the pampering!

Best customer service at a Spa
My family and I went to Santa Cruz for our mothers 60th birthday. I found Serene on this site and we had an awesome experience. From the moment I called to schedule the appointments for all 7 of us these gals were more than accomidating. The spa is very nice in dacor and serive choices but for us it was a total experience. They went above and beyond anything I have ever experienced at a day spa. Nanette, the owner was very helpful in putting together our itinerary and working around our schedule. The treatments were great and everyone had nothing but compliments after we were done. We even got thank you cards in the mail when we got home. This was an fabulous touch considering we don't even live in the area...when I go back to Santa Cruz I will not hesitate to call them for treatments. We all had massages, 2 had pedicures, one with a wax and one for a manicure. These ladies have a great team...even the ones who didn't have us as clients offered us water and goodies while we waited.

Elegant spa, knowledgeable staff
Serene has been my spa for a few years now, everyone is so nice, I see several practitioners for different services and they are all knowledgeable and happy to see me when I walk in the door. I see Julie for my brows and facials, Chloe for my nails, and I've seen Carol and Sylvie for massages, and they all know their stuff. The owner, Nannette, is so helpful she can organize 3 or 4 different services for the same visit if you plan ahead, and she'll explain anything you might be considering, but aren't sure you want to do yet. They have a doctor who comes once a month to do Botox (haven't tried it yet, but I'm thinking about it!) The decor is very nice, clean and comfortable. All the rooms are decorated by the practitioners, so they are all a little different and all cute (the ones I've seen anyway). They will help you look and feel your best without making you feel like you should be buying everything they sell (although they do sell Jan Marini which is great!), all in a little corner of heaven in the crowded ,bumper to bumper mad house of a town we call Santa Cruz!
